Classic car show returns to Wheaton’s Front Street

WHEATON – The Downtown Wheaton Association is gearing up for summer with Vintage Rides Car Shows, which take place from 6 to 9 p.m. starting May 24 and running through Aug. 23 on Front Street.

This year, the Downtown Wheaton Association is bringing back car theme nights along with music genres. The season will kick off with Pistons & Pin-ups and will conclude with Hollywood Night. All makes and models of cars are welcome each night, regardless of theme.

The weekly themes are:

• May 24 – Pistons & Pin-ups/New Front Street reveal

• May 31 – Taste of Wheaton

• June 1 – Bonus Saturday show for Taste of Wheaton

• June 7 – Chevrolet night/easy rock

• June 14 – Convertibles/diner tunes

• June 21 – Truck night/country

• June 28 – Corvette night/1970s

• July 5 – Hot rods night/disco

• July 12 – Buick night/swing

• July 19 – Ford night/country

• July 26 – Cadillac night/R&B

• Aug. 2 – Camaro night/Southern rock

• Aug. 9 – Volkswagen night/roller skating

• Aug. 16 – Dodge night/country

• Aug. 23 – Hollywood night

Space for cars will be on a first-come, first-served basis and reservations are not required. The street will be closed at 5 p.m. to allow classic cars to arrive and park, and the show begins at 6 p.m.

Shows on May 31 and June 1 will be relocated to Karlskoga Avenue between Wheaton Avenue and Hale Street because of Taste of Wheaton. Reservations to exhibit your car must be made for those nights by calling the Downtown Wheaton Association at 630-682-0633.
