Boo-Palooza Returns to Delight Ghosts and Goblins in Downtown Wheaton

Calling all ghosts and goblins: the Boo-Palooza Halloween celebration returns to Downtown Wheaton on October 26th starting at 10:00am at Martin Memorial Plaza. The fun continues through 1:00pm and includes trick-or-treating, costume contests, hayrides, pumpkin carving and more!

Family favorites will be back from 10:00am to 1:00pm: trick-or-treating store-to-store at downtown businesses and face painting, costume contests and pumpkin decorating at Martin Memorial Plaza. Also returning are the hayrides from 10:30am to 1:00pm and the return of the live great pumpkin carving at 11:00am both taking place at Martin Memorial Plaza. Those looking for a spooky story, should head to Wheaton Drama for storytelling from 10:00am to 1:00pm.

Kids of all ages come dressed in your cute or scary finest. Prizes will be awarded for the most colorful, the most creative and the overall cutest! Age categories range from 0-3 years old up to 10+ years old. Dress the whole family or neighborhood for the group theme category. All participants receive special treats.

The live giant pumpkin carving returns and features Wheaton resident and artist Joe Adkins. Last year’s pumpkin weighed in at more than 200 pounds and this year’s pumpkin is sure to please and will be on display at Martin Memorial Plaza throughout the day!

After walking and trick-or-treating all the businesses, take a break to enjoy your treats on the hayride around Downtown Wheaton provided by Wheaton Mulch.

New this year, and returning after a couple-year break, is the pet costume contest. Dress the family pet in its Halloween finest for the pet costume contest. Prizes will be awarded for the most colorful, the most creative and the overall cutest and all participants receive special treats!

Also, within the Wheaton community, kids are invited to participate in the Trunk-or-Treat event at Gary United Methodist Church (in the parking lot by North Hale and Seminary Street) from 10am to 12pm. Children can also vote on the best trunk décor!
