Givers always gain Discover the greatest member benefit we offer – the friendship and help of other independent retailers. The DWA has several committees that work to promote the development and expansion of business within Wheaton's downtown. Whatever your interest, we have a committee for you!
Standing Committees
Events Committee: This committee is responsible for the Dickens Event; Celebrate Spring, Celebrate Easter Event; Chili Cook-Off; Sidewalk Sale; Halloween activities; Vintage Rides; Pretty-in-Pink Event and 2 to 3 open board meetings annually. See Events Committee Task Summary (to be revised and available through DWA office) for additional information. Committee meets as needed.
Economic Restructuring Committee: Responsible for recruitment, retention, realtor relations and mentoring. ERC is continually searching for ways to recruit new business towards downtown, while assisting with existing businesses as they look towards expansion. Committee meets the third Wednesday of every month at noon in City Hall's Gamon Room.
Marketing Committee: Responsible for beautification, banners, and image advertising. Committee promotes the downtown business district through image advertising, media campaigns and special events planning. It markets our downtown as "The premiere place to be." Also responsible for the Guide to Downtown Wheaton, Calendar of Events, Image Marketing and Advertising. Committee meets the third Tuesday of the month at 1 p.m., DWA office.
Organization Development Committee: The purpose of this committee is to recruit new board members, build a volunteer base and develop board governing skills. The committee holds one meeting per month, usually the last Wednesday of each month at 2:00 pm in the DWA office.
Bylaw Revision Committee: This committee is responsible for revision of the DWA bylaws, last amended 10-19-01. They will present revisions in an acceptable format for board vote.
