Is there value in a downtown shopping district?
Healthy central business districts create a sense of pride, and residents feel a deeper sense of community. But really what does it matter? Did you know that for every $100 spent in Wheaton's locally owned independent stores, $68 returns to the community through taxes, payroll and other expenditures? When you shop online, nothing goes into your community. And when you shop with chain retailers, your money goes back to the headquarters.
Downtown Wheaton Association (DWA) exists to ensure that Wheaton continues to be a place where community exists. We are an independent group, but work in partnership with the City of Wheaton and the Wheaton Chamber of Commerce.
If you are a downtown Wheaton retailer, join the DWA. If you are thinking about starting a business in Wheaton, learn about what we have to offer. If you are a resident or visiting Wheaton, start shopping and dining in Wheaton and experience all that we have to offer while supporting the local economy.
