The Cellar Bistro
A conversation with Kathleen Lewis of The Cellar Bistro
What can patrons expect when they visit The Cellar Bistro?
A wonderful gem on the corner of Hale & Wesley serving delicious, homemade dishes using preservative-free ingredients and hormone/anti-biotic free meat and eggs. We have many seafood and vegetarian options too. Without a deep fryer or microwave, our chefs are able to prepare fresh, healthy food that will leave you feeling satisfied and not gorged. We have a great wine list, a variety of unique beers and live music every Monday night. We proudly buy from local businesses within our community.
Why did you start your restaurant?
The Cellar Bistro came to be in August, 2007 out of a desire to provide people with a place to go for fresh, preservative-free foods and beverages. We wanted to do business with local vendors not only to provide delicious, healthy food to eat, but also to generate business for other small businesses like us.
What do people love about your restaurant?
Guests love us for our fresh, healthy menu options. Our portions are perfectly sized and every dish is full of flavor. The Bistro feels like home. It's a place where people feel welcomed, comfortable and appreciated.
What makes The Cellar Bistro a unique part of Downtown Wheaton?
Buying from local businesses and farmers makes the Bistro unique. We are proud to make everything from scratch and do not have a deep fryer or a microwave in our kitchen. The decor and corner location make for a quaint ambiance. Our outdoor seating has become a favorite dining spot in Wheaton as it wraps the entire sidewalk where guests can enjoy good food and good wine with friends!
